REALBasic is a powerful and easy to use tool for creating your own Macintosh software. It's a full-featured, object-oriented development tool that enables you to create software with a simple, intuitive interface.
REALBasic uses its own proprietary object-oriented programming language, similar to Visual Basic, which is designed to be easy to learn and use.
There are two specific versions of REALBasic that are useful for development on Macintosh systems.
REALBasic 3.5.2 is the last version that allows compilation of applications for 68k-based machines.
Version 3.5.2 and 5.5.5 both allow compilation for PowerPC machines from Mac OS 7 - X, and Windows 98 - XP.
While REALBasic 3.5.2 lacks some of the features of v5.5.5 it's still incredibly powerful. For example, LegacyAI, a ChatGPT client for classic Macintosh was built using v3.5.2.
REALBasic can be downloaded from the Macintosh Garden.
